Geospatial Software Engineer – Telemetry & Mapping

EngineeringTorontoFull TimeOn-site

Overview

Geospatial intelligence is core to what Avok does. As a Geospatial Software Engineer you’ll build the high-performance mapping, tracking, and telemetry-visualization software behind Avok Sentinel — rendering vast areas, fusing tracks from many sources, and surfacing the change that matters across the North and Canada’s maritime approaches.

What you’ll do

  • Build performant geospatial and temporal visualizations (maps, tracks, layers) for huge, live datasets.
  • Implement telemetry and track handling, spatial queries, and time-aware analysis.
  • Work with SAR, AIS, RF, and EO-derived data and standard geospatial formats.
  • Optimize rendering and data access for scale and responsiveness.
  • Collaborate with fusion and platform engineers to turn data into a usable picture.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong software engineering with geospatial experience (e.g., WebGL / deck.gl / Mapbox GL, PostGIS, GDAL, or similar).
  • Comfort with large spatial/temporal datasets and performance optimization.
  • Solid general engineering fundamentals.
  • Eligible for Canadian Government security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience with maritime/air domain awareness, tracking, or ISR data.
  • Familiarity with coordinate systems, projections, and geodesy.

Why Avok

You’ll work on mission-driven technology that helps Canada see, understand, and decide — alongside a small, senior team, on problems that matter. This is an on-site role in Toronto. Many roles require eligibility for Canadian Government security clearance and compliance with the Controlled Goods Program.
